My summer makeup bag update

We’re now well into spring and what a glorious start it’s been! Hands up who else has been enjoying all this gloriously warm British weather? Hopefully there will be plenty more of it to come as the last few summers have definitely been a wash out to say the least!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who gives their makeup a little overhaul at the start of a new season. Gone are the dark berry and plum toned lipsticks and out come all the lighter pink and corals. I always love rediscovering a lipstick or eye shadow that I haven’t worn for a few months.

Recently, I have been going for a very minimal makeup look – glowy base, nudey brown eyes and a little pop of lip colour.

Spring makeup

Here is me enjoying the Parisian sunshine and taking full advantage of the amazing lighting for a cheeky selfie!

In spring and summer, I love to use a light foundation like the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder. I have this in two shades, 2 and 5, so that when I do a tan, my face matches the rest of my body!  My concealer is still the amazing Benefit Boi-ing brightening concealer, which is really hydrating and covers my dark circles without creasing after a few hours.

I fell out of love with blushers for a really long time, but the Glossier Cloud Paint in  Puff is just so dreamy. Applying it is basically finger painting, which reignites the child in me, and the buildable formula means you can sheer or more intense depending on your mood. To highlight, I’ve been using the Clinique Chubby Stick highlighter. I received a free sample of this and I love it so much. It’s so easy to apply and blend with either your fingers or a beauty blender sponge and leaves a shimmery, dewy finsih – perfect for day time.

For the eyes, I’m all about that nude brown look right now. My go-to brown shades have been Nudie and Cashmere Bunny from the Two Faced Natural Eyes palette. For mascara I’ve been using the new Glossier Lash SlickHonestly, this mascara is a dream! It makes my lashes look naturally long, there’s zero clumping and absolutely no flaking. Seriously, even after a sweaty run my lashes are still looking perfect. I had previously been using the new Benefit Bad Girl Bang that I received in my April Birchbox but found it an absolute nightmare to apply and remove. It seems that Glossier can do no wrong!

To finish the look, I’ve been choosing either a simple lip balm or adding a pop of colour with the Glossier Generation G lipstick in Like or an old favourite, the Maybelline Colour Sensational lipstick in a beautiful red/coral shade.
